What are the security features of HSBCnet?

All information exchanges between the customer and HSBC are encrypted using the latest dual-key encryption technology before being sent over the HSBC private data communication network. This prevents hacking and data manipulation.

What is the Security Device? How does it function?

The Security Device is used to authenticate your identity when you log into HSBCnet. It generates a security code unique to your account that HSBCnet can recognize. This code can only be used to access the site once and the Security Device will calculate a new security code the next time you log in. This is why the code is sometimes referred to as a one-time password. This security code also has an expiry period and will only be valid for a set period of time before a new code has to be generated by using the Security Device.

Some of its benefits are:

It changes every time you log in, making it extremely difficult to guess or successfully compromise using malicious software
It is PIN-protected and can be used one you key in the PIN.
It comes with an additional security code that you have to fill in after logging in. This is to reconfirm your identity and depends on the service you are trying to access.
